Refunds/Withdrawing the Application

WITHDRAWING THE APPLICATION

If your application is NOT yet mailed to your schools or programs, you may request that it be withdrawn. To withdraw your SOPHAS application, e-mail SOPHAS Customer Service your full name, SOPHAS #ID, and the sentence in the box below. Please note that if you have already paid for your SOPHAS application, there are NO REFUNDS should you choose to withdraw. Application withdrawal requests must be made in writing. SOPHAS cannot accept withdrawal requests via phone.

SOPHAS Withdraw Statement:

“I authorize SOPHAS to withdraw my application from the 2017–2018 application cycle. Furthermore I understand that none of this information can be reactivated for a succeeding application cycle.”

Once your application has been verified, it is already in the possession of your selected public health schools and programs and cannot be withdrawn via SOPHAS. You should contact the schools and programs to which you applied directly to withdraw your application from consideration.

SOPHAS REFUND POLICY

Once you E-Submit your application, your designated schools and programs have access to your information. Because of this, NO REFUNDS will be given for ANY REASON. As stated in SOPHAS’ policies, which all applicants must agree to upon submitting their application, applicants must agree to the no refund policy and it is the applicant’s responsibility to complete their application correctly, to monitor the status of their application, to ensure all required documents are received and posted to their application, to respond to all notifications in a timely manner, and to adhere to the deadline requirements posted by their public health schools and programs.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENT DISPUTES

Applicants who issue credit card charge backs not authorized by SOPHAS will receive a Bad Payment notification and the application will be removed from consideration from all programs. Applicants will be given 10 business days to send in a money order payment for their full application fee + a $25 bank processing charge to reinstate their application. If SOPHAS does not receive payment within the allotted time frame, the application will remain blocked and all schools and programs to which you applied will be notified of non-payment.

Should the application cycle end with an  application in a bad payment status, the applicant will be barred from creating future SOPHAS accounts until all fees owed to SOPHAS from previous cycles are paid in full.

COMMON QUESTIONS:

Q: I have submitted my application to several schools and programs and wish to withdraw from only some, not all, of these programs. Can I do that?

A: NO. Once you submit your application, you are committed to applying to the schools and programs you have selected. There is no way to only withdraw your application from certain schools via SOPHAS, as “withdrawing the application” will remove it from submission to all of your schools and programs at once. Unless you would like SOPHAS to withdraw your application from consideration entirely, SOPHAS will still submit your application to all schools and programs. If you would like a specific school or program to disregard your application, you should contact them directly.

Q: Can I obtain a refund if I miss a deadline?

A: NO. SOPHAS does NOT provide refunds for missed deadlines or failure of the applicant to correctly complete the application. As stated in SOPHAS’ policies, which all applicants must agree to upon submitting their application, it is the applicant’s responsibility to complete their application correctly, to monitor the status of their application, to ensure all required documents are received and posted to their application, to respond to all notifications in a timely manner, and to adhere to the deadline requirements posted by their public health schools and programs.

Q: Can I obtain a refund if the schools and programs I applied to are no longer accepting applicants?

A: NO. SOPHAS does NOT provide a refund if a public health school or program decides to close admission or fills its class. Schools and programs do not notify SOPHAS when they decide to close their programs, so we advise ALL applicants to contact the schools and programs they wish to apply to directly and confirm that they still have open seats or are still accepting applications BEFORE submitting your application.
